How accurately Kilometra records your trips
Kilometra can detect trips in different ways. They are not all equally accurate. Here is honestly what each one can and cannot do, so you can choose the right one.

Shortcut with CarPlay or Bluetooth available
The trip starts when your iPhone connects to the car and ends when it disconnects. This is the most accurate method today, and it works with any car that has CarPlay or Bluetooth.
Motion detection (no setup) available
Kilometra detects trips using the iPhone's sensors. That's convenient, but not perfect: during breaks, for example while charging or at a restaurant, a trip can split into parts, and the start is sometimes detected a little later.
Enter or correct by hand available
If a trip is missing or something is off, you add it by hand or correct it with one tap. Every change is logged, as required by the Swiss Federal Tax Administration.
Vehicle connection via the manufacturer testing with the first vehicles
The odometer reading comes straight from the car. What else a vehicle provides depends on the manufacturer and the model. That's why the connection adds to recording via the iPhone rather than replacing it.
OBD plug in preparation
A small plug in the diagnostic port that almost every car with a combustion engine has. We're currently testing how reliably it works with different cars. We'll only recommend a plug once that's clear.

Set up the shortcut. It takes two minutes, the app guides you, and after that every trip starts and ends to the second without you having to think about it.
